But when there are two people really close to each other - be it parents, spouses, friends, kids, siblings - whoever - If there is a real connect, words are pointless. A meaningful look, a soothing touch, a warm hug, a comforting hand on the shoulder, an encouraging pat on the back, an affectionate kiss on the forehead, a mild rustling of hair, a reassuring holding of hands, a drop of tear...and other lil gestures - that speak a million words in the few microseconds that they last....are all the communication that is needed. Similarly when in distress, a change in voice, smile, mannerism, the tear streaked eye, the stress behind the laughter can be picked up by people you connect to -no words there either. So whether you are at the giving end or recieving end - words are only the last resort to explaining your mind. More importantly, if you do connect with a person, words are only redundant fillers. In fact, the utility of words is inversely proportional to the intensity of emotion...and at the highest intensity of emotion, only - ONLY a gesture will do.
I know! Nothing earth shattering about this finding - but somethings are so implicit in our minds, that when you give form and structure to the obvious it seems like a whole new concept - much like an MBA!!! And in case, you dont have person whom you connect to without words - please open up your mind, your heart or soul and CONNECT - its a beautiful feeling....
PS: Thanks to the most useless person I have to work with whose rediscovery of my blog, is making me write once again...You were finally useful for something :P
