After all it is Valentine's day - A day of roses, passionate cards and romantic dinners!!! In India, it gives reason for many to shed their fears of rejection and make their move...
When I was a kid, no one in India, had heard about Valentine's day.. However by the time I was 14 or 15 the concept was catching up in cities... Today it seems to be a full blown event giving reason for all those smitten by love to celebrate! Kudos to the marketing efforts of card companies, florists and gift companies....
Some interesting facts I found about Valentines day
-It is the second biggest gift giving day, the first being Christmas.
- A billion cards are sold world over, again second only to Christmas
- the British alone spend 40 million pounds in Valentine's day flowers... I cant imagine how much the Americans are spending!!!!!!
- Valentine's day is sarcastically known as Sinlge's awareness day
- Beware! V-day no longer stands for Valentines day.. it stands for Eve Ensler’s award-winning play The Vagina Monologues. -And I just got this intresting news , Shiv Sena is going to tonsure the heads of lovers and make them ride donkeys if they are found celebating Valentine's day in public. One step further they renamed it prostitution day...Did anyone think Taliban?!! Please politicans there are a lot of things that REALLY need ur attention!!!
