Harrassed !!! - part II

I tried to refrain from getting too emotionally carried away in the post for the blog-a-thon, however, when I read other posts, I was so angry, that I realised rage is not always a bad thing. Violence is sometimes the best thing.

Hey u all in the society, why do u condone eve-teasing and harassment? Why dont we Indians stand up against anything - be it corruption or harrassment?.... wat affects ur neighbor today cud affect ur own kin tommorrow.. why dont we never realise that?

To all of u out there - male or female.. Havent u all seen someone being harrassed in ur lifetime? what did u do..sat and watched the show? ignored it? Ha.. how can u stand up to it when the girl is not protesting... well how can she? cos if she did then u will try to act as if nothing happened or worse still give her dirty looks and tell her the way she is dressed is inappropriate!

When I was 19 years old, me and D we went to Marina beach. There was this guy [probably from a nearby college] and his friend, very decently dressed, passing very obscene comments and doing disgusting gestures. We wanted to teach him a lesson, so we got some chilli powder from the lady who sold mangoes and acted as if we accidentally dropped it on him. We swore at him and then walked away as if nothing happened. People around were watching everything ....then this guy got a bottle of coke and tried to pour it on me - at this, D lost it - her favorite forehand shot landed on his cheek with her slipper. the guy just stood there, shell shocked, insulted in front of his friends - he hadnt expected that...and I am sure the next time tried something he atleast thought twice! Luckily for us, he was new to the trade too I guess. I shudder to this day, at the thought of what other ugly turns that scene could have taken!! And the public? Oh they all watched the drama, ate their sundal, looked away and did NOTHING!! Even if he had molested us in front of everyone I am sure they would have said we deserved it for our arrogance of hitting a male in public!

Ok now!!! my question is.. how many of u have been in the crowd? Wat did u do?

Eve-teasers and perverts are doing what they wish only because they know they can get away with what they do. The laws, the bureacracy, the public, everything is in their favor. See wat happened to Hemangini when she trid to file a complaint here.

You cant change the laws, but YOU ARE THE PUBLIC!!!!!!!!!! Please do ur bit to help harassed women. Each of us can be the change.

Its your problem...you will have to fight it out...You and your friend smack a guy, blind him with hot peppers, what more do you expect the people around to do? Isn't that enuf of a torture a guy. All said and done did you not have the basic 7th standard moral science common sense to actually tell him you were uncomfortable at people seeing you in public and that Queen of Jordan moves in public places with lot of elan and you and your, queens of marina beech are flusterred with people seeing you. stop this crap and get on with you life. Not every man is devoid of a female and is craving for one...I really feel happy that my girl friend is lot more gifted with intelligence and courtesy.

no..i am not that guy..and i am not surprised by ur standard reply... i have a steady girlfriend since school days...

i did not expect a guy to fall below his shadow telling all this crap to a stange girl...that guy shud have been handed over to the police and an eve teasing case shud have been booked...anywayz u seem to profess lotta anti-male sentiments and ideologies...take it easy...see the world in a different light...

and look at the number of exclamations u have against "Harrassed"...u have lot of pent up frustartion... (7 in ur fist harrassed blog and 3 in the next...10 min all)

I am definitely not anti-male. I have a husband too and have several freinds of the opposite sex who respect me for the person I am. I am not aginst the male commnuity. I am against the perverts, i dont care whether they are male or females [though my experince has been limited to males]

And if the public dint stand up for us do u think 2 college girls can drag a guy to police station and file a complaint? And again if u read hemangini's article u can realise wat a hassle it is to file a complaint.

btw My exclamation marks are not about frustration, they are abt emphasis!

btw y are u scared to reveal ur identity?

Good that you have a husband, i really appreciate and respect that institution.

Name is just incidental...even if I call myself Will Smith or Guy Ritchie, it really doesn't matter.

And what was this blog suppose to convey..."Stay away from me, i'll blind you, i'm an angry woman" thing to your new acquaintances.

Yes Mr Anon, if u r going to be a pervert, I might blind u and even mutilate ur private parts. And sure, I am one angry women when someone violates me!! But I am not a lunatic who hits out everyone I see. So if u r a normal person without any "ïntentions" why worry? Tell me one thing.... would u feel so sorry for this guy if he misbehaved with ur GF..

As for the message of the post, I think u got it all wrong! Well anyways, I'm not arguing any further.. I guess people in their right minds got the idea of what I was conveying.

Manu, thanks for the links u sent. I think the article by fiery sinews made perfect sense!

Lol. Wundergal, i saw your comments on FSN's book. I found the "Oh my God, you guys!!" damn funny. I can't believed you're married and still haven't gotten that part!! Either you have an unbelievable angelic husband :-) or you're in denial.. hehehe. Well, if its the former.. now's the time to go give him a pat on the back!!
I guess we will have more such discussion in the coming year!! Cheers.

Manu, my husband IS unbelievably angelic - he has managed me as a wife for almost 4 years now...that shows it right?

Well on after thought, not at all times:))))

Dude Anon.I'm not trying to take sides here but all I can say is its easy to have such an opinion when it has never happened to you (and probably won't).Wundergal does mention "I'll write about anything and everything" right at the top doesn't she :-).

Wundergal - honestly I'm not sure what I would do in such a situation. IMHO there are girls who primarily look for attention (this is nothing against their character though). If that was their intention to begin with, then whatever trouble they land themselves in was always on the way. However if you aren't looking for something like that, you ought to be able to go on unhindered. This is where society rears its ugly head. Our natural tendencies are suppressed, and consequently people are repressed. It is just sad that women bear the brunt of it all.

What is sadder is...I dont have a straight answer for you.

I really do not feel sorry for the guy. Infact as i stated earlier, i would have got him booked in a case. If it were to be my girlfriend, i would have surely hired the best lawyers in the country and made sure that his 8 generations thought that the world was only as big as Tihar Jail.

And it hepls to restrain from emotion-laden your replies.

Regarding your "But I am not going to delve into the details of every harrassment I had lived through..." thing, over-the-board firebrands in both genders will not be spared by the society. Lets not play the gender card here. You can breathe easy now.

FSN,
Yes, this is a problem which does not have a straight answer..well fighting atleast helps!

Anon..I dont care!
